Halfway There!

What a day!  I hit the halfway mark yesterday but since I worked last night, I didn't get around to taking my weekly baby bump picture or writing this post until tonight.  I was all set to share how excited we are to find out the gender of this little AppleSeed on Monday until I got a voice mail from my midwives' office telling me that there's been a schedule change and I need to call Monday morning to reschedule.  Say What?!?!?  First of all, the message also alluded to my appointment being Tuesday, when, in fact, it's on Monday...so, I don't really know what to make of that!  Then, there were no more details, just to call Monday morning at 8:30am because they were closing in 9 minutes for the entire weekend and there is no way for me to get in touch with anyone until they reopen Monday morning.  Grrrr!!  I understand that things happen and if that affects my appointment time, but having to wait alllll weekend to find out why & just how long I might have to wait to see this little baby moving all around inside me...really frustrates me!  I've been counting down to this ultrasound for weeks and now I have no idea when it will be!  Thankfully, I am more at peace about it now that it's had a few hours to sink in but suffice it to say, I am very anxious for Monday morning to get here so I can gain some clarity and a new date/time to look forward to!

In other news this week, I met with a doula and had a very good chat about hospital birth, home birth, and a fairly new birthing center located about an hour and a half from here in Rocky Mount, VA.  It's quite a drive for me but I'm willing to at least check it out.  I really haven't been happy with my midwives and now I'm really ready to check out some other options.  I just don't think a hospital birth is right for me.  The great thing about this birth center is that it's the only accredited free-standing birth center anywhere in the area and the midwife is a CNM versus a CPM (if you don't know the difference, I'm going to leave it to you to do the research).  So, after the next week which is set to be quite crazy, I am going to explore that option.

Jeff and I were able to go on a much needed date night tonight and I was finally able to fulfill my craving for Five Guys Burgers & Fries. Yum!  We also went to Kohl's and bought a body pillow and some new tennis shoes for work.  Yay!  Technically, Jeff and I are still on our date night so I'm going to wrap this up with my pic and stats.  Enjoy!

How far along?  20 Weeks!

Baby is the size of a:  Banana

Maternity clothes?  Just pants. (I mean, I wear shirts, they just aren't maternity shirts yet, hehe).

Symptoms:  Fetal movement, "hearty appetite" (as my app calls it), indigestion, occasional vomiting, constipation (sorry that's TMI), growing belly (but no stretch marks yet, yay), that's all I can think of right now!

Sleep:  Been having some weird dreams this week.  Otherwise, sleeping well.

Best moment this week: Meeting with the doula and having a good chat about natural childbirth.

Worst moment this week:  Finding out that my ultrasound will have to be rescheduled.

Miss Anything? Quickly beginning to miss comfortably lying on my back.

Number of times I get up to pee each night:  Just once.

Food cravings: The same...french fries, ice cream (everything bad for me & nothing good for me at all)!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really, I just gag randomly every now & then and sometimes that makes me throw up!

Have you started to show yet? Yup!  (See above pic)

Gender:  Well, we would be finding out in 3 days but now, I don't know!!!  (I still think it's a girl, though).

Mood: Currently still pretty bummed about Monday.

Looking forward to: Having my ultrasound (whenever that may be)!!!

What the baby is up to this week according to Babycenter.com:

Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — about the size of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)
He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Psalm 127:3
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
