Eden Amelia is Three Months Old!

Wow!  It is really difficult to keep up with a blog when you have an infant!  Eden is a happy baby but she really enjoys being held and has gotten to the point lately that she needs constant entertainment.  I am currently trying to break her of this but that's another story for a different day...

Eden turned three months old last Friday, May 23.  She is a growing girl and such a delight to be around.  I want to write a whole post on all of our breastfeeding difficulties and how we have overcome them.  For now, I will just say that she is breastfeeding wonderfully and I could not be happier.  I have never conquered a more challenging obstacle in my entire life!  Otherwise, she is a bit difficult to get to sleep currently but once she's sleeping, she sleeps very well.  I can honestly say that I am not sleep deprived at all!  I expect this to change once I go back to work this Friday.  I don't really want to talk about that right now, either! Hah!  In other great news, Eden is now pooping on a regular basis.  I have to say, I really enjoyed only changing one poopy diaper a week but I am also glad that her intestines do not seem to be bothering her much at all anymore.

Here is the darling, adorable little munchkin on her three month birthday:

Three Months Old!
Weight: 11 lbs., 12 oz.
Length:  22 3/4 in. (as of a month ago...hasn't been measured since)
Head Circumference: 16 in. (as of a month ago...hasn't been measured since)
Still in size 1 diapers & has definitely grown too big for newborn clothes!

Eden is very alert & expressive.
Loves to smile & "talk" a lot.
Loves to hold on tight to her taggy blanket, her bunny lovey or anything else she can grab onto (burp cloth, blanket, shirt, etc.).
Not sitting up (with support, of course) quite yet but has good head & neck control.

Here are a BUNCH of pictures from the last month (in no particular order):

"Woe is me!"

Smiley baby!

Playing on my mat, thanks Nana!

Sleeping like a little angel (this didn't last long)

Staring at Tita Bones intently!

Knocked out on G-Pops (or Corn Pops) after he worked very hard to get me to sleep!

So sleepy!

Cuddles!

She's just so peaceful when she's sleeping!

Making funny faces!

Meeting Auntie Jen for the first time!

Wrapped up snug in my owl towel after a relaxing bath.

Eden Amelia is Two Months Old!

Time is flying and Eden is already two months old!  She is growing like a weed and to be honest, not much has changed since my last post!  To that end, I'll keep this light on the narrative and heavy on the pictures.

Two Months Old Today!
Weight:  10 lbs. 7.4 oz.
Length: 21 3/4 in. (as of 4/7/14, will measure again tomorrow)
Head Circumference: 15 1/2 in. (as of 4/7/14)
Graduated from newborn diapers to Size 1's.
Between sizes when it comes to clothes; newborn stuff is too small & 0-3 month stuff is too big! Ughh!

Still loves to sleep, cuddle, and make funny faces.
She is now smiling and cooing a lot of the time, as well!
Loves to make spit bubbles and be very animated.

Enjoy a bunch of pictures from the past two weeks...

Just hanging out with Uncle Buzz.

Meeting G-Pops (a.k.a. Corn Pops) for the first time!

Just being ridiculously adorable!

I am totally in love with these pants! (And her spiky hair)

Sweet sleeping angel.

Knocked out on daddy's shoulder...one of her favorite napping spots.

My adorable, silly nieces showing off their temporary tattoos (Sweet Frog).

Well hello there!

Smiley girl!

Pictures!!!

Not much has changed in the past couple weeks other than getting a little more into a routine and being able to assimilate back into some semblance of a "normal life."  My main job is to feed Eden & that remains a bit of a chore.

Just to give you a little bit of an idea of what it's like...Eden eats about 7 times a day; an average of every 3 hours during the day and thankfully, she usually goes for a stretch of 5 hours and then 4 hours at night.  Unfortunately, this does not mean I get to sleep for that long.  First of all, the 5 hour stretch comes first meaning she goes from 10 pm to 3 am and I rarely get in bed immediately after her 10 pm feed, either because I have things I'm trying to get done or because Eden is gassy & fussy.  The second reason is because it generally takes about an hour for each feed.

I generally nurse Eden for an average of 10-15 minutes on each side. While she is nursing, I supplement her with pumped breastmilk or formula through a syringe connected to a tube that I place in the corner of her mouth.  As she sucks, she gets milk from my breast and the milk from the tube.  I am supplementing her 1-2 ounces with each feed.  After she's done, I have to pump for 10-15 minutes.  Then, I have to wash all the stuff I used to feed & pump.  Add in a diaper change, burping, and warming the milk (not in that order), and everything takes about an hour. She would probably sleep for longer if I would let her but I worry that this would affect her weight gain & my milk supply.  So, there you go...a little glimpse into my life.  Now, for a bunch of pictures!

Sleeping on Daddy.

Making one of her many faces.  She is so animated these days!

Josie is always starved for attention & this is not an uncommon sight.

Always making dramatic hand motions.

Grabbing Daddy's finger while he acts as a pacifier.

Being a drama queen again.

Held by cousin Karly.

Sucking her thumb.

Yay!

Yawning (I couldn't choose between these two pictures, so I just included both).

Eden Amelia is One Month Old!

Can you believe it?  It's been a whole month since Eden was born!  I can honestly say this has been the most challenging month of my entire life but it is getting better and all the hard work certainly has its rewards.  Eden is such a delightful baby.  She has some issues with gas pains and therefore has to be held a lot but otherwise, she's a really good baby (and obviously the gas is not her fault).  She would rather sleep than eat which is really nice when I want to sleep at night but is not so good for my milk supply.  It doesn't seem to be affecting her weight gain, though, since she gained 11 ounces in one week (the goal is 1/2 to 1 ounce a day).  We had some lost time to make up for & with the help of formula supplementation, she is packing on the ounces!  Here is Eden's one month pic and some stats.  I am also sharing lots of pictures I've taken over the past week or so...enjoy!

Eden's First Bath

It's been three weeks since Eden was born...three really long weeks that have also somehow flown by.  You got an update on the first week.  By the end of the second week, I was so utterly exhausted and feeling like a failure (as a food source for my baby) that there was no way I could muster up the energy or motivation to write a blog post about it.  It is now the end of the third week and I am doing quite a bit better though still struggling immensely with breastfeeding.  I am not going to go into all the details about that here because it is just too much currently...  perhaps another time.

It was a whole week ago but Eden got her first tub bath last weekend and we snapped a few photos to document the occasion.  She was not a huge fan as I did not figure she would be.  I gave her another bath the other day and she seems to be coming around to the idea.
